Terms and Conditions

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of the Services, including our websites, email notifications, applications, buttons, and widgets, and any information, text, graphics, photos or other materials uploaded, downloaded or appearing on the Services (collectively referred to as ‘Content’). Your access to and use of the Services are conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. By accessing or using the Services you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Terms of use

Access to and use of We Were There Too, both within the UK and internationally, is provided by the Trustees of the London Jewish Cultural Centre and its suppliers.

We Were There Too is a site intended to support the independent learning of students and people generally interested in London Jewry during the First World War period and researching for posterity, individuals and their stories. The Trustees have used their best endeavours to ensure accuracy of the content and relevance of the images used. The Trustees give no warranty beyond that. Further, the Trustees do not warrant that they will correct or update any content but if they do so your continued use of We Were There Too will be deemed acceptance of the updates or amendments. If you do not agree, you should cease using the site.

2. Privacy & Security

We Were There Too is an interactive site. There is a limited facility on the site to Contact Us or to engage in communications with the site authors. The Trustees of The London Jewish Cultural Centre do hold limited personal data or other information that can identify you or any user of the site.

If you are under 16 years of age and you use the social networking facility to share information helpful for your homework etc., you should read the advice given at ‘Using this site safely’ and:

  • Please get a parent’s or guardian’s permission before taking part in any networking community
  • Never reveal any personal information about yourself or anyone else (e.g. a school friend) or information that could be used to identify you e.g. your telephone number, your home address, school name and address etc.

3. Legal Information

All copyright, trade marks, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights (registered and unregistered) in and on We Were There Too and all content (including all applications) located on the site shall remain vested in the Trustees of the London Jewish Cultural Centre or its licensors (which include other users). You may not copy, reproduce, republish, disassemble, decompile, reverse engineer, download, post broadcast, transmit, make available to the public, or otherwise use We Were There Too content in any way except for your own personal, non commercial use or within an educational establishment for non commercial purposes. You also agree not to adapt, alter or create a derivative work from We Were There Too content except for your own personal, non-commercial use or use within an educational establishment for non-commercial purposes. Any other use of We Were There Too content requires the prior written permission of the Trustees of the London Jewish Cultural Centre.

The names, images, and logos identifying We Were There Too or third parties and their products, services and archives are subject to copyright, design rights and trade marks of We Were There Too and/or third parties. Nothing contained in these terms shall be construed as conferring any licence or right to use any trademark, design right or copyright of We Were There Too or any other third party.

The Trustees of the London Jewish Cultural Centre do not warrant that functions available on We Were There Too will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that We Were There Too or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or bugs. You acknowledge that it is your responsibility to implement sufficient procedures and virus checks (including anti-virus and other security checks) to satisfy your particular requirements for the accuracy of data input and output.
